CBB26 Northern Black Knob Map Turtle (Graptemys nigrinoda nigrinoda)

These are the northern species of Black Knob Map Turtles. They have a bit lighter coloration with strong yellow highlighted patterns. These come from the northern rivers of Alabama - the Cahaba, Tallapoosa, Coosa and Alabama Rivers. They are quite cold tolerant provided appropriate depth to brumate. They inhabit slow to moderate moving rivers and streams with sandy bottoms. They do best with good flow or current in clean water. A setup can be almost entirely aquatic but an area for consistent basking is a must. Good filtration is always important along with regular water changes and a varied diet. In the wild these turtles eat freshwater sponge, various mollusks and aquatic insects though they will graze occasionally on algae as well. Adult males average about 4-5". Adult females on the other hand can reach 8" in size

These captive-bred/born hatchlings are eating well on frozen blood worms, earthworms, mealworms, canned river shrimp, frozen beef heart and aquatic turtle pellets. They are in solid health and ready to go. Temperature Sex Incubated(TSI) sexes are available.
