CBB26 Western Painted Turtle (C. picta bellii)
These are the western subspecies of Painted Turtles. They have fantastic coloration with a red patterned plastron (belly) and green carapace (top shell). Western Painted Turtles come from mid to south-central Canda down through the Mississippi and Missouri River basins and reach all the way to the Pacific Northwest. They are very cold tolerant. These do very well as a beginner species as they are quite hardy. They are very cold tolerant provided appropriate depth to brumate. They do very well in Koi or garden ponds. Western Painted Turtles need a mostly aquatic environment as a setup with a very good basking site. Good filtration is a must with regular water changes and a varied diet. These turtles are mostly carnivores while young but will move to a good amount of aquatic plant matter as they age. Adults males average about 6" while adult females can get as large as 10".
These captive-bred/born hatchlings are eating well on frozen blood worms, earthworms, mealworms, canned river shrimp, frozen beef heart and aquatic turtle pellets. They are in solid health and ready to go. Temperature Sex Incubated(TSI) sexes are available.

Shipping
All turtles ship FedEx Priority Overnight Only on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for arrival Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday respectively. Our preference is always to ship to a FedEx Ship Center where the turtle(s) can be held in a temperature controlled environment until the package can be picked up. Doing so maintains our policy for our 14 Day Guarantee and prevents temperture exposure on a delivery vehicle. To ship to a FedEx Ship Center please note your nearest FedEx Ship Center as your shipping address on checkout.
